Amare Seyoum Hailessilase is a plant breeder and geneticist with over eight years of experience in sorghum research, genetics, and crop improvement. He has led national and international research projects funded by organizations such as BMGF and USAID and contributed to the release of high-yielding sorghum and millet varieties adapted to diverse and drought-prone environments. Currently a PhD candidate in Agronomy at Purdue University, he is passionate about modern breeding approaches and mentoring students in genetics, genomics, and crop variety development.
